MAPRad is working on the field of space and high-reliability electronics design and qualification and recently also on innovative particle detector research and development. Although the company has a recent foundation date (November 2005), it is based on the experience of more than 15 years of work in scientific space projects of highly qualified electronics and mechanical engineers and experimental high energy physicists.
The core business of MAPRad is radiation assurance in all its phases according to ESCC/ESA, JEDEC, ASTM and Military Standards. The company mission is to offer “turn-key” solutions for radiation hardness studies, from simulation of radiation environment to the preparation of components and systems to irradiation tests, execute the tests, evaluate the results and provide mitigation solutions. In this context, MAPRad efforts made possible to introduce three new irradiation facilities to the radiation assurance community. They are: LNS-IF in (Catania, Italy) for heavy ions and protons where the test are executed in air with all relative advantages, TAEA 60Co facility (Ankara, Turkey) and electron LINAC at Terni Hospital (Terni, Italy) for electron beam of 4-to-20 MeV.
Many years of activity of its founders and collaborators in experimental high energy and astroparticle physics projects gave MAPRad opportunity to launch a second activity line which is innovative particle detector systems research and development. The fruits of this activity line are now coming out, MAPRad very soon will offer two products: a high accuracy, multipurpose radiation detector and a flexible, high performance, low cost and low power data acquisition system for Earth based or Space applications.
